In the first week of the 2023 summer workshop, we'll explore water issues related to living here in the Sonoran Desert and the concept of hydrolocalism through multimedia, games, and stories. We'll also be previewing the projects we'll be working on this summer.
Here is the detailed schedule for this week:
We'll explore water issues in Tucson and introduce the concept of hydrolocalism through interactive activities.
Story-telling is the ultimate objective of everything from web pages to games, including data collection and visualization. The ultimate goal is to communicate meaning or messages to others. Today, we'll write a story using the hero's journey to explore the basics of story telling.
Games can be a great way of telling a story. Today, we'll try different types of games from interactive fiction to exploration games.
Data collection and visualization plays an important role at the Watershed Management Group Living Lab and Learning Center. Today we'll experiment with some simple data collection and consider ways to visualize the data to tell a story.
In today's session we'll try out some activities to start understanding the need for native plants and animals in a healthy ecosystem.
Here is the slide deck we used for this week's workshop. The majority of the images in the slides are clickable, so you can look up the resources we used. Slide deck for the first week of the 2023 summer workshop: Hydrolocal? What's that?!!!
